SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A two-alarm fire tore through a Mission Valley restaurant and an adjacent business early Tuesday, causing more than $500,000 in damage.
Smoke and fire were spotted coming from the roof of Chris' Ono Grinds Island Cafe & Grill and an adjoining business on Mission Gorge Place near Alvarado Canyon Place shortly before 2:30 a.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
Around 60 firefighters from San Diego and Heartland Fire & Rescue extinguished the blaze in about half an hour, SDFRD Capt. Joseph Amador said.
One firefighter suffered a minor injury from a fall from a ladder, he said.
Investigators determined the blaze was sparked accidentally, Amador said.
