SAN DIEGO — Police and paramedics responded to the intersection of Chase and Lincoln Avenues about 6:25 p.m. Wednesday and located the victim down and a good Samaritan who had begun CPR until paramedics arrived, according to Lt. Jason Taub of the El Cajon Police Department.

The victim, 58, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name was not disclosed, Taub said.

A preliminary investigation determined a small white or silver four-door sedan was traveling westbound in the 700 block of Chase Avenue as the victim was crossing the street in an unmarked intersection. The vehicle struck the man, then made a U-turn at Lincoln Avenue and drove away, Taub said.

Detectives believe the suspect vehicle will have damage to the bumper, hood and windshield.

Anyone with information regarding this hit-and-run was asked to call police at 619-579-3311.
