Man, 34, killed in alley shooting in Mountain View

Police said the victim has been identified, but his identity is not being released until his family is notified.

SAN DIEGO — A shooting left one person dead in a Mountain View- area alley Wednesday afternoon.

Police responding to a shots-fired call in the south alley of the 3400 block of Florence Street at about 3 p.m. Wednesday and found a Hispanic male who had sustained trauma to his upper body, according to Lt. Andra Brown of the San Diego Police Department.

Officers began performing life-saving measures until relieved by personnel from the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police said "the mechanism for the man's injury is not being released at this time."

Investigators from the department's Homicide Unit were called to the scene. Witnesses reportedly heard gunshots and saw two vehicles leaving the alley. One was described as a silver, four-door Dodge Ram pickup and the other a black Chrysler sedan, similar to a 300.

Police said the victim has been identified, but his identity is not being released until his family is notified.
