Authorities said four pedestrians were hurt when a 20-year-old woman, allegedly driving drunk, swerved toward the sidewalk to avoid hitting a turning car in Egger Highlands.

The crash happened about 7 p.m. Saturday at Coronado and Thermal avenues when a woman driving west on Coronado tried to avoid hitting a car turning left at Thermal and instead ran into three adults and one child standing at the corner, said San Diego police Sgt. Alan Hayward.

One of the women on the sidewalk suffered serious injuries to her leg and the others appeared to have minor injuries, Hayward said.

The 20-year-old driver was arrested and expected to be charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
