ENCINITAS (CBS 8) - An 86-year old man is dead, after his home catches on fire over the weekend. The blaze remains under investigation Monday.
The fire started Sunday morning in the 200 block of East Jason Street. A neighbor reported smoke coming out of the house and when firefighters went inside, they found the man's body.
Neighbors spoke to News 8 about the victim, who was a longtime resident of Encinitas.
"He was a guy who made a lot of complaints about noise, lived by himself, somewhat of a hoarder. His wife passed away a year ago and since that, he kind of kept to himself," said George Geiger.
"He had come out and told me his wife had died. He'd stop me, he clearly sort of wanted someone to talk to," added Aleza Martin.
The victim's identity has not been released. Investigators don't believe foul play was involved.
