SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8) – San Diego rolled out the red carpet Friday for some puppies-in-training and working guide dogs.

The event was part of the opening screening of “Pick of a Litter” – a new documentary that follows young guide dogs for the blind.

The documentary follows a litter of puppies from the moment they are born and begin their quest to become guides for Guide Dogs for the Blind – an organization headquartered in the Bay Area. The dogs are provided free of charge to those who need them.

The stakes are high and not every dog makes the cut – only the pick of the litter will succeed.

The film made its San Diego debut at the Ken Cinema. Local guide dogs and puppies in training also came to the show film to show their support.
