New figures show that the average price of a gallon of gas in San Diego County surpassed the $3 mark for the first time since last October Sunday, rising 1.2 cents to $3.009.

The average price has risen 41 consecutive days and is 10.4 cents more than a week ago and 53 cents more than last month, but $1.602 less than at this time last year and $1.621 less than the record high of $4.63 set last June 19.

The average price is at its highest since Oct. 28, when it was $3.041, according to figures provided by the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
