SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A groundbreaking study is unveiling the faces of hunger in San Diego County.

The San Diego Food Bank, with the help of Point Loma Nazarene University, surveyed hundreds of households to learn more about the 350,000 San Diegans who rely on the food bank each month.

They looked at things like employment, income, ethnicity and age, and were surprised by some of the results.

"People who need food bank assistance are your coworkers, your neighbors, the people you see everyday, but you would never expect to see in the food lines," Point Loma Nazarene University chief economist Dr. Lynn Reaser said.
