SPRING VALLEY (CNS/News 8) - A fight turned deadly in a Spring Valley neighborhood this afternoon.
Deputies responding to the altercation in the 3600 block of South Cordoba Avenue shortly before 4 p.m. found a mortally injured person in the area, sheriff's Lt. Kelly Stuart said. The victim died a short time later, and homicide detectives were called in to investigate.
While deputies would not specify the exact relationship between the two men, they did verify both lived in the same neighborhood where the fight took place.
A man who identified himself as a close friend of the victim described him as "a real good guy, a just down-home good guy," adding, "He's not the type of person to go out and start trouble with anybody."
That same friend, who asked not to be identified, tells News 8 that the victim, who was in his 50s, suffered from chronic asthma.
"I think that would have put him at a great disadvantage because he would get short-winded very quickly," the friend said.
