SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Homicide detectives on Thursday were investigating the death of a 9-year-old girl who died from blunt-force trauma inside a Mountain View apartment.

Officers were called to the apartment in the 300 block of Milbrae Street around 10:20 p.m. Monday on a report of a child who was not breathing, according to San Diego police homicide Lt. Kevin Rooney.

Paramedics arrived and took the girl - identified as Elizabeth Holloway - to a trauma center, where she died at 11:56 p.m., he said.

The SDPD's Child Abuse Unit was originally handling the investigation, but an autopsy performed Wednesday showed the girl died from blunt-force trauma, and the case was transferred to homicide detectives, Rooney said.

No arrests have been made.
