A suspected killer is in the hospital after leading police on a high-speed chase.
San Diego Police say Terry Sayachak, 28, threatened his father with a gun at a home on Z Street around 6 p.m. Monday night. He left with his girlfriend, and his father called police. He later returned to the scene around 7 p.m. but drove off when he spotted officers taking a report.
Minutes later, he ditched his car, a Toyota Camry, and carjacked a Mitsubishi Gallant
that was stopped at a red light at National Avenue and 43rd Street, police said. He ordered the Gallant's owner to drive but took the wheel after the owner jumped out of the car.
Sayachak continued on in the carjacked Gallant, with officers in pursuit, until he crashed into several parked cars at 46th Street near Logan Avenue. He suffered critical injuries and was taken to an area hospital, where he remained this morning.
Officers found the abandoned Camry with Sayachak's dead girlfriend inside at around 10:15 p.m. at Elizabeth and T streets. She was found in the front passenger seat, dead from a gunshot wound.
