SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Jury deliberations continue Friday in the trial of a man accused of pulling off robberies from San Diego to Fresno.

John Richard Martinez, 42, is charged in San Diego County with robbing a Mira Mesa check-cashing store last Dec. 20 and a Point Loma bank a week later. He was arrested New Year's Eve as he tried to cross into the United States from Mexico.

Authorities dubbed the suspect in both robberies the "Dapper Bandit."

Martinez allegedly committed four earlier robberies in Fresno, King County and Westlake Village.

The defendant has a 1992 robbery conviction and a prior escape conviction and was on parole prior to his arrest at the border.

He faces 57 years to life in state prison if convicted.
