It looks like the Fourth of July fireworks show will go on in La Jolla.

Money trouble nearly snuffed out the annual tradition that's been in place for nearly 25 years.

Restaurant owner George Howard of George's At The Cove has financed the show for years. But this year he said he had to cancel due to rising costs and the economy.

That's when La Jolla resident Adam Harris stepped in determined to find the $27,000 needed to keep the festivities alive.

Harris' campaign went hi-tech through Facebook and Twitter. He even developed a website to solicit donations. More than 150 sponsors came together in just five days.

Meanwhile, some local communities can't afford fireworks this year, including Chula Vista, Imperial Beach and Oceanside.
