LA MESA (CNS) - La Mesa police and sheriff's deputies searched Friday near Grossmont Center and Sharp Grossmont Hospital for an 88-year-old dementia patient last seen Wednesday.

Basilio Casillas has been reported missing and is believed to have boarded a trolley from the Grossmont Center area headed west on Wednesday, La Mesa police detective Michael Butcher said. He was believed to be headed toward the Pacific Beach area, where he's known to frequent Linda's Donuts at 1888 Grand Ave.

Police released a photograph of Casillas and asked for help finding him. The octogenarian has white hair, walks with a cane and was last seen wearing a white shirt and beige pants.

LMPD officers and a sheriff's helicopter were searching for Casillas a little before 1:50 a.m. Friday near the 8600 block of Fletcher Parkway. The helicopter cleared the area around 2:40 a.m. without success.

Casillas also went missing last week but was later found at the San Ysidro border crossing, Butcher said. Besides La Mesa and Pacific Beach, he's also been recently seen in the area of Fairmount Avenue and El Cajon Boulevard in San Diego.

Anyone who sees Casillas or has information about his whereabouts was asked to call the LMPD at (619) 667-1400.
