The man convicted of second-degree murder of a local surfer may get a new trial.

In November 2008, Seth Cravens, 22, was found guilty of killing Emery Kauanui in May 2007.

Cravens is scheduled to be sentenced Monday, but the judge will also hear a defense motion for a new trial.

Cravens faces 15 years to life in prison.
