Update: Amber Alert canceled after Oceanside police find suspect and no child

Oceanside police officers found the suspect near the Aliso Creek Rest Area, however the child was not with him.

SAN DIEGO — Editor’s Note: The San Diego Police Department released a statement Saturday, November 9 that stated the Amber Alert issued for an 11-year-old boy named Johnny Diaz was cancelled following a day-long investigation. Police received a call Saturday at 11:39 a.m. regarding a man who said his vehicle had been stolen with Diaz inside. The suspect was identified as Osman Rahimi, 29, who was said to be driving a 2006 black Honda Pilot. Saturday afternoon around 3 p.m., Oceanside police officers found the Honda and Rahimi near the Aliso Creek Rest Area, however the child was not with him. At that time the Amber Alert was cancelled.

California Highway Patrol issued an Amber Alert for Orange County and San Diego County.

Just after 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, a man reported his Honda Pilot was stolen with his 11-year-old cousin inside. 

According to San Diego Police Department, the suspect's 2006 black Honda Pilot was found in Oceanside on Interstate 5 near Camp Pendleton. One person was detained.
