Bicyclist killed by hit-and-run driver in Escondido, police searching for suspect

Investigators say the vehicle alleged to have hit him is described as a dark colored Toyota sedan.

ESCONDIDO, Calif. — A bicyclist was killed on Saturday by a hit-and-run driver, police said.

The collision happened at 11:52 a.m. on La Honda Road, a mile from Daley Ranch Road, Sgt. Ryan Fien of the Escondido Police Department said.

Investigators say the vehicle alleged to have hit him is described as a dark colored Toyota sedan. The car was later found in the 600 block of Aster Street, just a few miles away from the scene. The driver was no longer with the car and officers are now searching for them.

The victim's identity was not immediately released.
