CA 50th Congressional District: DeMaio concedes, Darrell Issa and Campa-Najjar will face off in November

SAN DIEGO (AP) - Former U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa says he has garnered enough votes to advance to a runoff in November for a House seat vacated by convicted Republican Rep. Duncan Hunter. 

It's not clear how many votes remain to be counted in the Republican-leaning district east of San Diego. But Issa's main opponent, San Diego political commentator Carl Demaio, conceded Tuesday.

California candidates from all parties run in a single primary and the top two vote-getters advance. 

Democrat Ammar Campa-Najjar won the the March 3 primary. 

Two years ago, Issa gave up his seat in a neighboring district that has become more Democratic. Hunter pleaded guilty to misspending campaign funds.
