SAN DIEGO — An elderly driver on Wednesday crashed through a glass panel into the Homestyle Hawaiian restaurant in Tierrasanta.

No injuries were reported, but the San Diego Fire Department requested a building engineer to inspect the structure.

The driver, who was born in 1937, pulled into a parking space at the restaurant to meet her daughter for dinner, but mistakenly took the gas pedal for the brake pedal - driving right into the restaurant.

Police on scene said just 10 minutes before the accident, 10 Escondido police officers were sitting at the front table because they had all just finished a training service.
