VALLEY CENTER, Calif. — A 9-hour standoff at a Valley Center home ended Saturday morning without injuries and with the homeowner in custody.

William Halverson, 51, was arrested without incident at around 9 a.m., according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. He is facing multiple charges, including domestic violence, elder abuse and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Sheriff's deputies were called to the 12000 block of Lilac Knolls Road just after 10 p.m. Friday for a verbal argument. A person outside the home told deputies that Halverson was with a dependent, immobilized adult inside, and that Halverson had loaded a shotgun and had access to multiple weapons. When deputies reached Halverson, he repeatedly threatened to kill anyone who came onto his property, including law enforcement, officials said.

A SWAT team and Crisis Negotiation deputies soon descended on the scene, shutting down nearby roads and ordering residents to stay inside their homes before engaging in negotiations that eventually led to Halverson's surrender.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477
