You scream, I scream

Take freshly baked cookies and add some premium ice cream and what have you got? A very delicious story about a hot spot in Pacific Beach that is serving up cool treats.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Take freshly baked cookies and add some premium ice cream and what have you got? A very delicious story about a hot spot in Pacific Beach that is serving up cool treats.

Take the two greatest foods ever invented, fresh baked cookies and ice cream.

"We have the funfetti cake, peanut butter chocolate. We just introduced the snickerdoodle, the white chocolate macadamia nut, the red velvet, the M&M, and the chocolate chip," said Rob Robins with The Baked Bear. "Cookies and crème which is probably our best seller, the mint chip, strawberry, strawberry cheesecake, coffee, chocolate chip cookie dough, rocky road, butter pecan and mango sorbet."

Put them together and you'll create the kind of business that has them backed out the door, since the Baked Bear first opened its doors.

"We specialize in ice cream sandwiches. Basically the customer comes in, gets to pick two cookies. He gets to mix and match the cookies, a top and bottom cookie and you go around and pick out your ice cream," explained Rob.

The Baked Bear, located on Mission Boulevard, between Garnet Street and Feldspar Avenue is the brainchild of two former Torrey Pines classmates, Robbie Robbins and Shane Stanger. They opened their doors just a couple weeks ago on May 4.

But Baked Bear is not just a mash-up of cookies and ice cream, they also offer brownies and waffle ice cream sandwiches.

"We'll take the waffles and you can pick out your ice cream before putting it in the press, we'll put in the ice cream and it heats it up for thirty seconds and it keeps the top and bottom hot and the middle cold," said Rob.

Pretty sweet prices as well. Only $2.95 for a cookie ice cream sandwich and $3.95 for a waffle or brownie ice cream sandwich.

No wonder their so much buzz at the beach for the Baked Bear.
