The Relentless Rise: How a submarine prepared a Navy veteran for success

Navy veteran and author, R.T. Stokes, joined Morning Extra to talk about helping others dive beneath the surface to discover greater purpose waiting to rise.

SAN DIEGO — Author and Navy veteran R.T. Stokes knows what it means to overcome challenges. After graduating boot camp, he was broadsided by a suspect speeding in a stolen vehicle. The crash left him with a broken jaw and collarbone among other things.

Shortly after that he found himself deep under the ocean surface in a Naval submarine trying to process what had happened to him. Stokes says that serving on the submarine so quickly after his crash forced him to slow down and think about how he was living his life and identify what he truly wanted out of it.

Stokes touches on those things and provides readers with tips and methods to help examine what is really happening beneath the surface of their own selves to better understand who they really are, what they are capable of, and what challenges they need to overcome in the pursuit of their own "relentless rise" in his new book.

R.T. Stokes stopped by the News 8 studio to share his incredible story and he talks about why this book is so important to him.
