SAN DIEGO — The fugitive sex offender who broke his parole and was arrested in San Diego was back in court Thursday.

Charges were dropped against 57-year-old convicted rapist Dale Dulac. He was charged with receiving stolen property and vehicle theft. The District Attorney’s office chose not to pursue the charges so Dulac can be extradited back to New York for breaking his parole.

According to the District Attorney's Office, Dulac is still facing a charge of robbery and a charge of first degree burglary. He will be in court in North County on Friday. Extradition proceedings will wait until the cases in San Diego close.

US Marshals arrested Dulac after officers recognized him walking in the 1500 block of Imperial Avenue on October 4, following a manhunt involving federal agencies that was started when he violated his parole by leaving Niagra Falls.

Dulac was paroled from state prison in October 2015, after serving over 22 years of an up to 35-year sentence, according to the Niagara Gazette. According to the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services website, Dulac’s previous convictions include first degree rape, sexual abuse and sodomy.

Dulac was sent to prison for raping a 28-year-old woman who picked him up hitchhiking June 14, 1992, the Associated Press reported.
