Preparing to evacuate large animals during a fire

Evacuating horses can be challenging. That's why it's important to be prepared.

ALPINE, Calif. — Dry conditions and strong winds can make for a perfect storm when it comes to Southern California wildfires. With fire concerns growing, many in San Diego's East County are preparing to possibly evacuate large animals and livestock. 

Those at Stony Oaks Ranch in Alpine are among those preparing to possibly evacuate large animals, like horses.

"You have to include your animals," said Isaac Sanchez with Cal Fire. 

Here are some tips for preparing ahead of time, including being able to identify and transport your animals.
