San Diego County nail salons, massage businesses, and tattoo shops can reopen on June 19

California has not yet released safety guidelines for those industries.

SAN DIEGO —

San Diego County health officials are urging responsibility and caution as businesses reopen.

"Well, we made it through another week,” said Chairman Greg Cox on Friday afternoon.

“This doesn’t mean the crisis is over,” said Cox.

Supervisor Nathan Fletcher said the county is working hard to ramp up its daily testing capacity. Anyone in San Diego County can get tested for COVID-19 for free.

Those wishing to get tested can visit a new website. Rady Children's is handling pediatric testing for patients under 12.

9,130 people have tested positive in San Diego County and 313 people have died countywide of COVID-19.

Indoor movie theaters, bars, zoos, community swimming pools and hotels got the greenlight to reopen on June 12.

Before businesses reopen, they must fill out a Safe Reopening Plan, share it with their employees and display it where customers and patrons can see it.

They must also make sure employees and customers get a temperature or symptom screening, use face coverings when not eating or drinking, maintain physical distancing and practice good hand hygiene.

The county was made aware of the first restaurant associated outbreak on Friday morning. The case is under investigation so the county is not releasing the name of the restaurant, according to Dr. Wilma Wooten.

The county has recorded five community outbreaks of the illness in the past week. Past community outbreaks have included church meetings, parties, an "unauthorized" wedding and offices.

"We had only about three community outbreaks in the month of May," Wooten said.
