CREST, Calif. — A Sycuan Casino bus and a small car collided Sunday on Dehesa Road near Willow Glen Drive in East County San Diego, according to the California Highway Patrol. A person was trapped in the smaller vehicle following the head-on crash which occurred shortly around 12:15 p.m. but they were helped to safety by emergency personnel.
The driver of the car suffered major injuries but was expected to survive. At least six other people were taken to the hospital - the extent of their injuries was unknown, according to the Heartland Fire Department.
The bus received front end damage and there was debris on the roadway following the crash, according to CHP.
Tow trucks were called to the scene to assist with the removal of both vehicles.
The accident caused traffic delays in the area into the afternoon.
There was no word on an exact cause of the crash and it was unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role.
