SAN DIEGO — More than 5,000 residents in the downtown area, Balboa Park, Golden Hills and Center City regions were without power Saturday afternoon, according to San Diego Gas & Electric.
Witnesses told CBS 8 they heard a large boom just after 4:30 p.m. and the power went off shortly after.
An SDG&E spokesperson said the cause of the outage is being determined.
The spokesperson also said the restaurant area of Little Italy was not impacted by the outage.
5,354 customers were without power at the peak of the outage, but power was restored before 8 p.m.
Witnesses in the area took to social media and said the outage was impacting the downtown region of San Diego.
X user Eli Burton posted a video of smoke in the downtown area following the outage.
