RAMONA (CNS) - A 34-year-old man was jailed Saturday for a failed robbery attempt at a Ramona restaurant, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
A man with a handgun forced open an interior door to the KFC restaurant in the 1000 block of Main Street, near 10th Street, just after 8 p.m. Friday, according to Sheriff's Sgt. Christina Bavencoff.
The suspect demanded an employee open the cash drawer but fled empty-handed, Bavencoff said.
Deputies spotted a man who matched the suspect's description and gave chase, Bavencoff said.
Raul Cruz was taken into custody and arrested for suspicion of multiple offenses including attempted robbery and possession of a controlled substance while armed, according to the sheriff's department and jail records.
