SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 42-year-old man was taking into custody after stabbing three people in a San Diego apartment complex Sunday.

The incident occurred in the 3800 block of 50th Street near Winona Avenue about 12:15 p.m., San Diego Police Officer Jane Jacobsen said.

The suspect stabbed two women and one man in the courtyard of a Chollas Creek apartment complex. Both of the women, a 24-year-old and a 19-year-old, were stabbed in the head and the man, who was trying to protect them, was stabbed in a finger, Jacobsen said.

They were transported to a local hospital, Jacobsen said, adding that the injuries were not life-threatening.

It is unclear if the suspect knew the victims or why he attacked them.

The people involved were from South East Asia and were not able to communicate with officers, she said.
