SAN DIEGO, Calif. (CBS 8/AP) - The Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears have one of the most heated rivalries in the NFL.

After the Packers defeated the Bears on Sunday to earn a trip to the super bowl, a Packers fan was fired for displaying his team pride on the job.

John Stone was fired from his job as a car salesman in Chicago, as his general manager saw the Packers tie as a conflict of interest.

Roberts says the dealership has done promotions involving the Bears and he was afraid the tie could alienate the team's fans and make it harder to sell cars.

Roberts adds that Stone was offered five chances to take off the tie but he refused.

Stone says he wore the tie to honor his grandmother, who was also a Packers fan.

There is no company policy stipulating that only Chicago sports logos are allowed.

The general manager for a rival car dealership reportedly offered Stone a job.
