OCEANSIDE (CNS) - One man was stabbed to death and the man he had been fighting with was airlifted to a local hospital, Oceanside police said Saturday.

A babysitter ran out of a house and called police at about 9:30 p.m. on Friday, to report a man covered in blood at a residence on the 1400 block of Santa Rosa Street in Oceanside, Sgt. Gabe Jimenez said today.

Two neighbors ran to the home and discovered the victim, a white man in his 40s, stabbed to death and the suspect, 34 year-old David Strouth, laying bloodied on the floor.

Police said a fight broke out between the victim and Strouth, prompting the babysitter to flee the home and call for help. That's when neighbors discovered the victim and Strouth.

Strouth was airlifted to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries where he remains today under police watch, Jimenez said. Two children, ages two and four, were also at the home during the stabbing but their relationship to the victim is unknown.

Homicide investigators remained at the home today to collect evidence. Police said the cause of the fight and Strouth's relationship to the victim were being investigated.
