SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8) - Mayor Faulconer is heading to San Antonio with Tijuana’s mayor to take part in the 7th U.S.- Mexico Border Mayor Summit.

The two will be co-chairs for the event that will host mayors from across the country.

The single day summit will take place on Friday and will tackle a variety of bi-national topics including infrastructure, trade relations and water quality. Mayor Faulconer says a major problem has been sewage runoff from the Tijuana River Valley coming into San Diego’s local waters.

This year’s event will be the largest to date with 27 mayors expected to attend.

Another hot button issue that Mayor Faulconer says will be discussed is the border wall proposed by President Trump.
