SAN DIEGO - San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders plans a high-profile lobbying trip to the state capitol Tuesday to protest the potential confiscation of local government money by the nearly-bankrupt state government.

Sanders will join the mayors of Sacramento, Los Angeles and Santa Ana to protest a state proposal to partly fill a $21.3 billion budget deficit by diverting 8 percent of local government revenues to the state.

The mayors will meet with the state treasurer and state comptroller, as well as legislative leaders, on the day trip, but they are not scheduled to visit with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
