SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Smoke and flames may be visible from the direction of Marine Corps Air Station Miramar Saturday afternoon and evening as military fire-rescue crews conduct several controlled burns.

The routine training fires on the base's airfield are scheduled to begin about 4 p.m. and last roughly four hours, officials said.

The blazes are not expected to cause any visibility problems for motorists around the northern San Diego Marine Corps installation.
