SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8) — A motorcyclist is dead, and four others were injured in a crash in Vista.
It happened Saturday night on East Vista Way just north of Foothill Drive.
Authorities say several motorcycles and a car slammed into each other.
On Sunday, a memorial for James Warner was growing just outside Monte Mar Road and stood in stark contrast to the scene the day before.
On Saturday, around 6:30 p.m., the San Diego County Sheriff's Department says a Toyota Camry and at least three motorcycles were involved in a collision.
Five riders were taken to the hospital - and one of them - 55-year-old Warner, later died.
According to members of the Grifter's Motorcycle Club, the riders belonged to their group.
The driver of the Camry was not injured and remained at the scene.
This was the third fatal crash in the county in a week's time.
Last Sunday, Ana Lira and her friend Brandon Contreras were killed after being hit by suspected drunk driver.
Friends and family gathered at a vigil Saturday to honor Lira.
Lira's mother – who is hearing-impaired - spoke at the vigil with the help of her other daughter.
"We love her and everybody here loves her and she'll always be the greatest person. She'll be missed by many, many people," Lira's sister said as her mother signed. "She knows my sister is up there watching over us, knowing that all these people love her."
In Mira Mesa, a mother named Judy Bui was killed and her 4-year-old son was seriously injured Friday when two cars crashed on a Mira Mesa roadway.
