No charges to be filed against fake TSA agent

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (AP) — Prosecutors say no criminal charges will be filed against a man who allegedly posed as a Transportation Security Administration agent and privately screened two women at the San Francisco International Airport.

San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said Friday that Eric Slighton of San Francisco will not face charges for the alleged incident on July 15.

Wagstaffe says his office opted not to file charges because investigators have not been able to track down the two women Slighton is accused of screening and have not found surveillance footage of the incident.

The 53-year-old Slighton was arrested at a security checkpoint in the airport's International terminal after allegedly bringing two women into a screening room while posing as a TSA agent.

Wagstaffe adds that while it's illegal to impersonate a police officer, it's not illegal to impersonate a TSA agent.
