SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8/CNS) - San Diego Sheriffs confirmed a woman was dead Saturday after being shot in Alpine.
The shooting took place shortly after 2 p.m. in the area of Victoria Drive and England Place, according to sheriffs.
When authorities arrived on scene, they found a woman on the ground outside of a car. The homeowner said they have no idea who the lady is or who the car belongs to.
Multiple parties called 911 when they saw someone walking down the street with a gun.
"Callers reported hearing shots fired and seeing a man with a gun walking in the area," Williams said. Responding deputies quickly located a man matching the suspect's description and detained him without incident, the lieutenant said. He had two handguns.
The gravely wounded woman was found near a vehicle parked in the 2800 block of Victoria Drive, Williams said. Alpine firefighters pronounced her dead at the scene.
The names of the victim and the suspect were not released.
Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call homicide detectives at (858) 285-6330 or (858) 565-5200.
