The U.S. Coast Guard is looking for survivors in the wreckage of two small planes that collided and crashed off Long Beach.

Two debris fields were spotted about a mile apart, five miles south of the Queen Mary ocean liner.

The Federal Aviation Administration said a pilot reported seeing the crash Monday afternoon.

One of the planes involved was reported to be a Cessna. There was no word on the other plane.

The Coast Guard said it would resume its search at daybreak on Tuesday.
