SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A woman was struck and killed by a motorist while attempting to cross the street in Tierrasanta on Monday, police said.
The fatality in the 10000 block of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard occurred just before 8 a.m., according to San Diego police. She died at the scene.
The motorist waited for authorities, who shut down both east and westbound lanes of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard near De Portola Middle School for their investigation.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - There's been a pedestrian and vehicle collision in Tierrasanta Monday morning.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the pedestrian-involved accident happened around 8:00 a.m. on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard near De Portola Middle School. News 8 has been told that a women was hit by a car while she was crossing the street.
Police have not confirmed whether she survived the crash. However, Chopper 8 live reports showed a covered body at the scene.
After the accident, the driver stopped at the scene. As seen in Chopper 8 footage, a gray vehicle in the center of the road had a dent in the middle of its hood.
In that area, the eastbound and westbound sides of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard have been closed
Police are on the scene investigating. There is no word yet on how long the closure will last.
