SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Police searched Friday for the fourth member of a crew blamed for a string of kidnappings and robberies that targeted intoxicated men in the Gaslamp Quarter.

The San Diego Police Department arrested three suspects believed responsible for a crime spree that victimized at least eight people from August to December, said police Lt. Andra Brown.

The assailants would cruise the streets of downtown San Diego late at night and early in the morning looking for victims, often drunk men walking on the street, Brown said.

They would often identify themselves as police officers and tell a victim he was being arrested for being intoxicated, then force him into their vehicle and drive around the downtown area, in some cases for more than an hour, demanding his cell phone and wallet, according to police.

Victims would be forced to surrender their ATM codes and be dropped off at random locations, Brown said.

Hassan Nur, 20, and Mohamud Ali Mohamed, 23, were arrested Monday and Mohamed Mohamed, 25, on Tuesday, she said.

According to arrest records, at least two of the suspects live together in a City Heights apartment.

The fourth suspect, who is being sought, was described as being between 25 and 30, 6 feet 3, 250 pounds, with dark skin, black hair and dark eyes.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims and urge anyone with information on the robbery-kidnappings to call robbery detectives at (619) 531-2299.
