CARLSBAD (CBS 8) - International Sushi Day is right around the corner and one local restaurant wants to get you ready.
Blue Ocean Robata & Sushi Bar in Carlsbad joins CBS News 8's Alicia Summers to demonstrate how to make a sushi roll.
International Sushi Day is Thursday, June 18.
Sushi originally began as a way to preserve fish in China and then the trend eventually made its way to Japan.
The fish was placed in rice and allowed to ferment and then the rice was thrown away. Now, the rice plays an important role in the sushi making.
Nearly 80 percent of the world's Bluefin tuna caught is used for sushi.
