Rally held against fracking at local beach

Anti-fracking activists took to Ocean Beach Saturday hoping to convince Governor Brown to stop the oil extraction practice.

OCEAN BEACH (CBS 8) - Anti-fracking activists took to Ocean Beach Saturday hoping to convince Governor Brown to stop the oil extraction practice.

Fracking uses pressurized water and chemicals to break up rocks to access oil resources.

"We believe there are chemicals in the fracking liquids that come out to the ground that are being sprayed on crops in California that are known to be carcinogenic," Nicole Peill-Moelter, Anti-fracking Activist said.

Participants were encouraged to write anti-fracking messages on a giant canvas.

Once completed, it will be sent to the governor.
