Three men are recovering in local hospitals from injuries they suffered when their single engine Cessna crashed on the beach at Camp Pendleton Saturday night.
The Cessna 172 was en route from John Wayne Airport to San Diego's Montgomery Field when it crash-landed about 6 p.m. Saturday, according to the Orange County Register.
The names of those injured were withheld, but two were Orange County residents.
Witnesses told officials that the plane appeared to develop engine trouble before it crash-landed near a helicopter pad by Las Pulgas Road, the Register reported.
The three men on board were taken to hospitals. Two went to Mission Viejo's Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center, the other to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla. Two of the men were severely injured, and the other suffered moderate injuries, the newspaper reported.
