Apparently, San Diego is on its own when it comes to social services.

The state is basically out of money, and now it is up to individual counties and cities to pick up the tab.

The state can no longer afford to pay county employees who distribute food stamps and there is no money for the $700 checks from Cal-Works that go to families trying to get off welfare.

And, money has run out for Medi-Cal, which pays for health services for the uninsured.

The good news is that California will reimburse the counties and cities once the state budget is fixed.
