SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8/CNS) - A contractor who was hit and killed by a car while on the job was identified Tuesday.
Investigators say 73-year-old Edward Dutton was crossing the street in the 5300 block of Geneva Avenue in Emerald Hills when he was hit shortly before 7:30 a.m. on Monday. He died at the scene, according to San Diego police.
One neighbor told News 8 that the area is very dangerous because, at that time of morning, the sun impairs the vision of everyone traveling along that stretch of road.
"It's very tragic, this street has been a nuisance in our area for years," David Harlgrove said.
Harlgrove said people drive too fast and claims to have witnessed ten accidents within the last year.
The driver crashed into a parked car after hitting the man. The 25-year-old motorist was cooperating with police, SDPD public-affairs Officer Billy Hernandez said.
Police haven’t said if speed played a factor in the crash.
