SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A man robbed a 7-Eleven near Horton Plaza early Thursday and was arrested a short time later.

The suspected demanded cash from an employee at the convenience store at the corner of Broadway and Second Avenue shortly before 2:30 a.m., San Diego police Officer Robert Heims said.

The clerk refused to hand over any money, so the suspect walked behind the counter and helped himself to an unknown amount, Heims said.

But the robber was taken into custody outside of the store and was identified by witnesses, Heims said. His name was not immediately available.
