VISTA (CNS) - A suspected drunken driver accused of leading police on a chase lasting nearly an hour through two North County cities and ramming a patrol car is scheduled to be arraigned Friday.

An officer saw 48-year-old Feggin Christopher Conners driving erratically while talking on a cell phone in the 1900 block of South Coast Highway in Oceanside and tried to pull him over shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday, Oceanside police Lt. Leonard Mata said.

Conners refused to yield and fled, eventually entering Vista, where he drove his Toyota sedan over a police spike strip, Mata said. Although his tires were flattened, Conners continued fleeing for a time, stopped, then threw the vehicle into reverse and backed into an Oceanside police squad car, he said. No injuries were reported.

Conners also crashed the Toyota into several parked vehicles before finally stopping in the 1600 block of Marbella Drive in Vista, Mata said.

He has been held at Vista Detention Center in lieu of $50,000 bail on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, hit-and-run and assault with a deadly weapon.
