LA MESA (CNS) - La Mesa police Wednesday searched for a teenage gunman who robbed a pedestrian of his iPod.

The pedestrian -- a 23-year-old man -- was walking in the parking lot of Highwood Park at 7777 Junior High Drive when he was accosted by the gunman about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to the La Mesa Police Department.

The robber wielded a large caliber semi-automatic handgun and demanded that the pedestrian empty out his pockets, police said. The pedestrian complied, then followed orders to run away, police said.

The robber fled the area with the pedestrian's iPod, running away westbound on Junior High Drive, police said.

Police described the gunman as black, 16 or 17, with a thin build and a one-inch-thick afro. He wore jeans and a red and black hoodie with numbers on the front, police said.

Anyone with information about the robbery was asked to call La Mesa police at (619) 667-1400.
