The 2018 League of Legends World Championship will be heading to South Korea for the first time since 2014 as the 24-team international competition kicks off on October 1st.

SAN DIEGO - The 2018 League of Legends World Championship will be heading to South Korea for the first time since 2014 as the 24-team international competition kicks off on October 1st. 

The top 24 teams, including 3 North American Teams, will battle for The Summoner’s Cup. 

League of Legends is the most-played PC game in the world, with over 100 million monthly active players and draws players and fans from across the globe, and LoL Esports games are broadcasted live to millions of fans in 18 different languages across the globe. 

League of Legends Esports is a premiere global sport with 14 professional leagues worldwide.

Each regional LoL Esports league is comprised of approximately 10 teams that compete against one another year-round over the course of two seasonal splits. Last year, 57.6 million unique viewers watched the 2017 League of Legends World Championship. 

Viewership for the Worlds 2017 reached new viewership milestones, rivaling those of major traditional sporting event finals.
