CHULA VISTA (CNS) - A third suspect was arrested Monday for allegedly taking part in a fight that left a young man dead outside a South Bay house party.
Victor Castro, 19, arrived at Chula Vista police headquarters this morning, accompanied by a lawyer, and surrendered. The Chula Vista resident was expected to be booked on suspicion of murder in connection with the Oct. 10 death of 21-year-old Joseph Baars.
About 2:15 a.m. that day, patrol officers responding to a 911 call found Baars lying in front of a home in the 400 block of Krista Court in Chula Vista, suffering from severe injuries to his face and head. He died at the scene.
According to witnesses, Baars had gotten into an argument with other partygoers at a large gathering at the residence, and the dispute turned into a brawl.
The next day, Bonita resident Uriel Alejandro Sanchez, 20, surrendered in connection with Baars' death. Last Wednesday, 18-year-old Anthony Talavera of Chula Vista turned himself in.
Sanchez and Talavera also will face murder charges in the case, according to Gonzales.
The reason for the fatal fight was unclear.
